Mike Diehl, born in Los Angeles California, was raised in Huntington Beach as a multi-sport athlete. At the age of 15 years old, he decided to focus his athleticism on the sport of volleyball. He would go on to earn a scholarship to UCLA and win the 1993 NCAA Championship with the UCLA Men’s Volleyball Team. Mike then began a seventeen years professional career playing both indoor and beach volleyball all over the world. After winning multiple championships and MVPs, Mike retired from professional volleyball at the age of 38 years old. After retiring from volleyball, Mike’s passion for sport and fitness continued. Within a year, he became a personal and group fitness instructor with certifications from NASM(National Academy of Sports Medicine) and EFTI (Equinox Fitness Training Institute). After four years in Los Angeles doing individual and group fitness classes, Mike and his wife moved up to the state of Washington. There, he began working as a sales consultant for Smith & NephewSports Medicine Endoscopy. He assisted in hip, knee, and shoulder endoscopic procedures, which furthered his knowledge of the joints in the human body. Mike then transitioned to eyecare for the next seven years. Now, Mike is returning to his passion for coaching youth volleyball and personal/group-fitness training. He will be a great addition to the Kinetikos team, given his experience in beginner, intermediate, and advanced-level strength training.
